Ms. Cox graduated from The Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind in 1978, and has been a lifetime member of the Virginia School for the Deaf Alumni Association (VSDAA). Since 2017, she has served on the VSDB Board of Visitors representing Deaf alumni, and since 2016, as a Deaf alumni representative on the VSDB Foundation Board.
Cox received her B.A. in American Studies from Gallaudet University, and a M.Ed. in Higher Education from American University. Ms. Cox worked at Gallaudet University for 34 years in Student Affairs, the Career Center, Alumni Relations, Undergraduate Admissions, and Enrollment.
A native Virginian, she relocated to Staunton after her retirement. Ms. Cox is a mother of three adult children (twin daughters and son) and a grandmother of six grandchildren.
